Lawrenceville, Ga.-- The Louisville Bats (60-66) dropped game one against the Gwinnett Braves (67-58) on Thursday night by the score of 5-4. Louisville trailed 5-0 heading to the ninth and were able to get four runs but it would not be enough in the loss.

The Braves picked two runs in the second after three singles and a hit-by-pitch were issued. They picked up another run in the third after a walk was issued before a double to center by Joey Terdoslavich. Gwinnett added on two more runs in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead.

The Bats four runs all came in the ninth. Falu singled and was moved to third after a walk and hit-by-pitch were issued before scoring off of a sacrifice fly by Ramon Cabrera. Kyle Waldrop then hit a three-run homer. It would not be enough as these would be the last runs of the ballgame.

Brandon Finnegan (L, 0-2, 6.00) started the game for Louisville and took the loss. Finnegan threw four innings giving up five hits, three earned runs and a walk while striking out three. Donovan Hand, Miguel Celestino, and Jose De La Torre all made an appearance from the bullpen in the Bats' loss.

Sugar Ray Marimon (W, 5-4) picked up a win for the Braves. He pitched seven innings and gave up just two hits, no runs, and a walk while striking out eight.

The Bats will play game two of the series tomorrow night at 7:05. Expected to pitch for Louisville will be right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen (3-1, 1.93). Lorenzen threw a complete-game shutout in his last appearance for the Bats. For Gwinnett, righty Kanekoa Texeira (6-3, 3.61) will get the start.
