Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick stranded 12 men on base during the ballgame, and five over the final two innings as their rally from five runs down fell short Friday night against the Potomac Nationals in a 5-4 loss in front of 3,197 fans at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Keys began to rally in the fifth inning when they hit back-to-back home runs for the first time since 4/23/05. RF Arturo Rivas and LF Carlos Duran turned the feat against Nationals starter Marco Estrada.

In the eighth inning the Keys would score two runs before an out was recorded, but they stranded the bases loaded against reliever Alex Morales.

Morales struggled early in the ninth inning, walking the first two batters of the inning. After a sacrifice bunt by SS Blake Davis moved the runners into scoring position with one out, Morales struck out the game's final two hitters leaving Frederick one run away.

The Keys went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

The series continues Saturday afternoon at Harry Grove Stadium with first pitch slated for 2:00 p.m.
