TONIGHT'S OPPONENT: Jairo Cuevas is a 23-year old right-hander ssigned by the Braves as a nondrafted free agent on 3/20/03. The Dominican Republic native posted a 7-12 record with a 5.55 ERA (129.2 ip, 123 h, 87 r, 80 er, 22 bb, 69 k) in 27 appearances with Low-A Rome. He was selected as the Appalachian League's Pitcher of the Year in 2005 after going 6-1 with a 1.95 ERA in 10 starts and two relief appearances. He struck out 69 hitters in 55.1 innings with the D-Braves. He was also selected to the Appalachian League All-Star game that season. He began his professional career in 2003 in the Dominican Summer League, going 2-4 with a 3.21 ERA.
