Late Rally Comes up One Short

Springfield, MO - Down seven runs at one point, the Arkansas Travelers got back within a run in the 9th inning but came up short, falling 8-7 to the Springfield Cardinals. Brian O'Keefe capped a two out rally in the final inning with a grand slam but Patrick Dayton struck out Keegan McGovern to end the game. O'Keefe finished the night with four hits and six runs batted in. Springfield battered reliever Reid Morgan for seven runs over 2.2 innings as they built a seven run lead in the fifth. Morgan was tagged with the loss. Cardinal starter Domingo Robles kept the Travs off balance for five innings and picked up his first win of the season.

Moments That Mattered

* Nolan Gorman hit an opposite field three-run homer off of Morgan with two out in the third to put the Cardinals in front.

* Arkansas had the bases empty and two out in the ninth down by six before seeing five straight batters reach culminating in O'Keefe's grand slam to make the game tight.
