Wilson Tobs News Release
WILSON, N.C. - The Peninsula Pilots scored nine runs over the final three innings of Wednesday night's game to come from five runs back and defeat the Wilson Tobs 12-8 at Historic Fleming Stadium.
Peninsula (22-25-1, 10-10) entered the eighth down by a pair of runs and was able to break out the sticks with a four spot against Tobs right-hander Christian Oliver (L, 1-2). After back-to-back walks to start the frame, Roberto Duran singled home a run to make a one run game ahead of Josh Eldridge who laced a bases clearing, three-run double off the top of the right centerfield wall to give the Pilots their first lead of the game at 10-8.
Wilson (18-30, 9-11) brought the go ahead run to the plate against Andrew Montague (W, 1-0) in the eighth inning as Zach Houchins doubled down the left field line. However, left-hander, Brad Zambron (S, 5) came on to strikeout Trey Whaley and end the threat.
In the ninth, the Pilots added a pair of insurance runs on a Corey Davis home run to centerfield as the Pilots clawed their way back to defeat the Tobs 12-8.
The Tobs and Pilots will continue their three game series on Thursday night at Historic Fleming Stadium with first pitch set for 7:05. Additionally, it will be the final Thirsty Thursday of the season.
