Wilson Tobs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C - The Fayetteville SwampDogs came from two runs back in the seventh inning to down the Wilson Tobs, 5-3 on a soggy Wednesday evening at J.P. Riddle Stadium.

Trailing by a run in the seventh inning, Fayetteville (5-2, 23-12) turned the game around. Tyler Ding singled back up the middle which plated Jacob Golliday with the run that knotted the score at three. Mike Tauchman followed one hitter later and chased Tyler Thompson (L, 0-2) from the contest with a two-run single to give the SwampDogs a two-run, 5-3 advantage.

Wilson (4-4, 13-23) broke a one all tie in the fifth inning when the Tobacconists loaded the bases but brought across only one run on a fielder's choice by Geoff Jimenez which plated Collins Cuthrell for a one-run Tobs advantage.

The Tobs took a two-run lead before the SwampDogs rallied for victory when Cuthrell delivered his second sacrifice fly of the night to make it 3-1 Wilson but that advantage was short lived.

Still down by a pair in the ninth inning, the Tobs brought the tying run to the plate as Aaron Rea was hit by a pitch to begin the frame. Then, with two outs, Zack Lee singled to put the tying run on base. However, Tyler Brunneman (S, 6) was able to get Harry Slade to chase a high fastball and give the SwampDogs a 5-3 victory.

Wilson returns to Fleming Stadium tomorrow night for another Thirsty Thursday as they take on the Petersburg Generals. First pitch is slated for 7:05.

The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
