Marlins and Sharks Start Late, End Suspended
July 11, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Morehead City Marlins News Release
MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - In a game that began 29 minutes late because of rain, the Morehead City Marlins (12-24 overall, 2-7 second half) and Wilmington Sharks (20-14 overall, 4-3 second half) were suspended after 3 ý scoreless innings of play at Big Rock Stadium.
The game will be resumed on August 1, the final time Wilmington travels to Morehead City. The game will resume from the point it was canceled, with nobody on and nobody out in the top of the fourth inning. It will conclude as a nine-inning contest, and then the game originally scheduled for that evening will be a seven-inning game.
Tonight's contest was turning into a pitcher's duel before the rain took over. Dario Santangelo tossed four innings, allowing just two hits and no runs for Morehead City. Stephen Vaughan was equally as sharp for Wilmington, throwing three innings of shutout ball and allowing just two hits.
The Marlins are back on the field tomorrow evening when they travel to Wilmington to take on the Sharks for the fourth time in a five-game span. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with the live broadcast on CPL WebPass beginning approximately 10 minutes prior to first pitch.
The Morehead City Marlins is a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
