Pulaski, Virginia - While the Elizabethton Twins outhit the Pulaski Yankees 13-10 Monday night, the Yankees established an early lead and added insurance when needed to top the Twins 8-4.

Prelander Berroa pitched into the sixth inning for Elizabethton but surrendered five runs on six hits without being able to record an out in the sixth inning.

Steven Cruz and Denny Bentley followed Berroa out of the bullpen, combining to allow three runs on four hits over three innings.

Pulaski connected for home runs in the second, third and seventh innings, each proving to be a blow to any Elizabethton hopes of climbing back.

The E-Twins scored in the sixth inning, when Janigson Villalobos doubled home Tyler Webb. After the Yankees responded with five runs over the next two innings, Elizabethton couldn't add more until the ninth when Will Holland and Seth Gray hit back-to-back home runs for their first pro homers. The two were previously teammates in the Cape Cod League with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.

Spencer Steer and Matt Wallner both turned in successful days at the plate, with Steer going 2-5 and Wallner going 2-4. Willie Joe Garry Jr. contributed as well, going 3-3 with two doubles, a run scored and a walk.

Elizabethton looks to split the series with Pulaski Tuesday night, first pitch is at 6:30 p.m. from Calfee Park in Pulaski.
