Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

FRISCO - The RoughRiders rallied for 11 runs over their final three turns at-bat Sunday night to dispatch the Hooks, 11-10, before 11,019 fans in the series finale at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Corpus Christi starter Cristian Javier was forced to settle for a no-decision after hurling five one-hit shutout frames. In his last three outings, Javier has allowed two runs and three hits while striking out 25 in 16.2 innings.

Javier was backed by a Seth Beer lead-off home run in the second. Later in the inning, consecutive two-out hits by Lorenzo Quintana, Colton Shaver, and Anibal Sierra made it 3-0 Hooks. Shaver's double against Jonathan Hernandez was followed up by a two-run two-bagger by Anibal Sierra.

A Quintana single and Shaver's second double of the evening set up a run-scoring Baltimore Chop by Sierra in the fourth.

Trailing 4-0 in the sixth, Frisco erupted for seven runs on seven hits, one walk, an error, and a sac fly while sending 11 men to the plate. A two-run triple by Preston Beck off J.B. Bukauskas ignited the frame.

In the eighth, Andretty Cordero hit a grand slam off Layne Henderson to push the home club in front, 11-6. Cordero finished the night with six RBIs.

With the bases full and Corpus Christi down to its final out, Quintana turned around a 100-mph fastball from Emmanuel Clase for his first career slam. The ninth-inning shot onto the left-field berm was Quintana's fourth hit of the game, bringing the Hooks to within a run.

Clase battled back with a strikeout to end the game.

Yohan Ramirez is slated to pitch for the Hooks Thursday night as the Whataburger Field faithful are treated to Independence Day Fireworks, presented by the Port of Corpus Christi.
