West Valley City Utah - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Utah Grizzlies 2-0 Monday night at Maverik Center to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-3 best-of-five first round playoff series.

"We had a goaltender that competed his butt off and made some huge saves for us," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "We didn't really give them too many shots, but we didn't generate nearly as much as we normally do when we're going and playing with emotion, intensity and hunger."

Utah goaltender Andrew Engelage stopped 26 of 28 in his first professional playoff start.

Las Vegas forward Eric Lampe scored both Wranglers goals and both came early in periods. He made it 1-0 1:14 into the second after a scoreless first and 2-0 3:32 into the third period on a tip in front. Both goals were scored five-on-five.

The Wranglers outshot Utah 28-21. Utah went 0-5 on the power-play and 4-4 on the penalty-kill. Each team's penalty-kill ranked in the top five in the ECHL during the regular season.

Utah continues the first round Tuesday with Las Vegas at Maverik Center. Face-off scheduled for 7:05 p.m. There will again be $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks and $2 Draft Beers; in addition to $7 student tickets.
