Portland Beavers News Release

LAS VEGAS - Jason Repko doubled, tripled and drove in three runs as part of a record-breaking 13-run sixth inning that helped the Las Vegas 51s overcome an eight-run deficit to blow past the Portland Beavers 14-8 Tuesday night at Cashman Field.

Sergio Garcia and A.J. Ellis also drove in three runs apiece for the 51s (35-30), who have won seven of their last eight games.

Chip Ambres belted two home runs and drove in five runs as the Beavers (31-32) built an 8-0 advantage by the middle of six, but the first 10 Las Vegas batters reached in the bottom of the sixth, and the 51s would end up sending 17 men to the plate in the frame and chasing relievers Sean Henn and Dirk Hayhurst in the process.

The 13-run inning is a new eight-year franchise record for runs allowed in a single frame by the Beavers, who gave up seven runs in an inning the night before, and was a new franchise record for runs scored in an inning in Las Vegas' 26-year franchise history.

Highlights of the bottom of the sixth: Repko hit a two-run double as the seventh batter in the inning; Angel Chavez followed with a two-run single; Garcia doubled home two runs with the bases loaded to give Las Vegas the lead; the next batter, Ellis, legged out a two-run triple; and Repko added an RBI triple to cap the scoring as the 16th batter in the frame.

The 51s banged out 19 hits and beat the Beavers for the ninth time in the teams' last 10 meetings at Cashman Field.

Hayhurst (0-1) gave up the bulk of the sixth-inning damage, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and registering just one out for the loss. Henn failed to record an out, giving up five runs on two hits and three walks to the five batters he faced.

Peter Ciofrone was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs scored for the Beavers, who had 14 hits in the losing cause.

Greg Jones (3-3) was credited with the win, despite allowing two runs and three hits in his one inning of work for the 51s.

The series continues Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
