Laredo Bucks News Release


LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks went 3-0-0 this past week. The Bucks started the week by hammering Amarillo 10-2 on Thursday at the LEC. On Saturday Laredo traveled to Corpus Christi and grabbed a 4-3 victory. Sunday the Bucks returned home and beat Austin 4-3 for their sixth straight win. Overall Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 34-13-5 with 73 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by eleven points with one game in hand in the Southeast Division race. Laredo is home on Friday against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in a 7:30 p.m. face off. Saturday the Bucks are in Austin, then travel to Corpus Christi on Sunday. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

- Laredo is home on Friday against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in a 7:30 p.m. face off.

- The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks are partnering with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help raise money for a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. 'Pack the House' and help the Bucks sellout the LEC for JDRF on Friday, March 9th, against Colorado. If the Bucks sellout the game against the Eagles they will donate $10,000 to JDRF. Local BMP Radio personality Sammy the House from 106.1 FM and Bucky will be placed on the LEC roof from Monday, March 5th---Friday, March 9th. Sammy the House and Bucky will stay on the LEC roof 24 hours a day leading up to the Friday, March 9th, game and they won't come down until the game is sold out. Other local celebrities and officials will be invited to visit and spend time on the roof to help raise attention and money for JDRF. The Bucks ticket office will be open 24 hours a day from March 5-9 to process ticket orders. Bucks tickets for the March 9th game to benefit JDRF are also available at several remote locations including; the Laredo Children's Museum at Mall del Norte and local JDRF office at 7913 MacPherson, Suite 105.

2006-07: REGULAR SEASON: Laredo is 8-3-1 against RGV. The Killer Bees defeated the Bucks 4-2 on 10/28 at the LEC. The Bucks rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and beat the Killer Bees 5-2 on 11/10 at the Dodge Arena as Igor Agarunov scored a pair of goals. Laredo fell 2-1 to Rio Grande Valley on 12/09 at the Dodge Arena. On 12/10 the Bucks hammered the Killer Bees 9-4 at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Killer Bees 3-1 on 12/23 at the LEC. On 12/29 Bucks forward Bobby Chaumont scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in a 3-2 shootout Laredo victory at the Dodge Arena. The Bucks got goals from six different players as they beat the Killer Bees 6-2 on 12/30 at the Dodge Arena. On 12/31 forward Chris Korchinski scored two goals, and the Bucks were 3-7 on the power play as they beat RGV 4-2 at the LEC. Forward Chris Korchinski scored :55 into sudden death overtime to beat the Killer Bees 3-2 at the LEC on 01/07. The Bucks beat the Killer Bees 4-1 at the Dodge Arena on 01/14 as forward Ladislav Kouba had a pair of goals. Laredo fell 3-2 in overtime at Rio Grande Valley on 02/10.

2005-06: REGULAR SEASON: The Bucks went 8-4-2 against the Killer Bees in the 05-06 regular season.

2006 Post-Season: The Bucks defeated the Killer Bees four games to two in the first round of the CHL Playoffs. Bucks forward Jeff Bes ended the series with a Game Six OT winner at the Dodge Arena.

All-time: Laredo is 32-12-5 against the Killer Bees, outscoring Rio Grande Valley 181-117. The Bucks are 13-9-4 all-time at the Dodge, and 19-3-1 all-time at the LEC. The teams met in the first round of the 2004 CHL playoffs with the Bucks sweeping the Killer Bees three games to none and again in the first round in 2006 with the Bucks winning four games to two.

- AUSTIN ICE BATS -

2006-07 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo is 7-1-1 against Austin. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 5-3 on 10/29 in Austin. Forward Jeff Genovy registered a hat trick. On 11/03 the Bucks beat the Ice Bats 6-5 in overtime on the road as Bobby Chaumont scored the game winning goal. The Ice Bats beat the Bucks 4-2 in Austin on 12/02 behind two goals from John McNabb. On 12/03 the Bucks rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at 3-3, before falling 4-3 in overtime to Austin at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 3-2 on 12/08 at the LEC. On 12/15 the Bucks beat Austin 5-1 as forwards Igor Agarunov and Jeff Bes scored a pair of goals each. On 01/05 Eric Marvin made 34 saves as he shutout Austin 3-0 at the LEC. Laredo beat Austin 3-1 on the road on 01/19. Laredo beat Austin 4-3 at the LEC on 02/25.

2005-06: REGULAR SEASON: The Bucks were 7-1-0 against Austin in the 2005-06 season. Laredo was 4-0-0 at home and 3-1-0 on the road.

All-time: Laredo is 33-13-2 against the Ice Bats all-time. The Bucks have out scored the Ice Bats 169-120 over that stretch. Laredo is 12-10-0 all-time in Austin.

- CORPUS CHRISTI RAYZ -

2006-07 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo is 6-3-1 against the Rayz in 2006-07. The Bucks beat the Rayz 4-2 on 10/21 at the American Bank Center in the season opener for each team. The Rayz beat the Bucks 5-3 at the LEC on 10/31. Laredo beat the Rayz 3-2 on 12/03 with three third period goals. On 12/06 Laredo beat Corpus 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Jeff Bes at the LEC. On 12/22 the Bucks beat the Rayz 5-4 in overtime on a goal by Adam Rivet at the LEC. Kevin Reiter stopped 33 of 34 shots on 01/27 in a 2-1 victory for the Bucks at Corpus Christi. This is the seventh of 13 meetings this season. On 01/28 the Bucks blew a 4-1 lead with seven minutes to play and fell 5-4 in a shootout. The Rayz beat the Bucks 3-1 at the LEC on 02/11. Corpus Christi beat the Bucks 6-1 at the LEC on 02/14. Laredo beat the Rayz 4-3 on the road on 02/24.

2005-06 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo went 10-2-1 against Corpus in 05-06. The Bucks were 6-1-1 at the LEC and 4-1-0 in Corpus. Overall the Bucks outscored the Rayz 48-24.

All-time: The Bucks are 44-14-2 all-time against Corpus Christi, outscoring the Rayz 240-143. The Bucks are 24-5-1 at the LEC against Corpus.

APPLEBEE LEARNING CENTER HOCKEY 101 BIG SUCCESS

- The Bucks held their first Hockey 101 presented by Applebee Learning Center on Wednesday night at the LEC. More than 70 people participated. The fans got a behind the scenes tour, on ice instruction and a chance to gain a unique insight into the game of hockey.

SEASON HIGH

- The Bucks had a season high 51 shots on 02/25 against AUS. The previous was 49 on 01/20 vs. WIC. Laredo also fired 27 shots in the first period on 02/25 vs. AUS, eclipsing the previous season high of 23 on 01/23 in the second period against RMR. The 27 shots were also a franchise record for most shots in a first period, passing the 26 against ODE on 02/27/04.

HOT STRETCH

- The Bucks have won six straight games and out scored the opposition 30-13 during this stretch.

POWER PLAY EXPLODES

- The Bucks have scored in six straight games on the man advantage, going 13 for their last 42 (30.9 %).

- The Bucks set a season high for biggest margin of victory this season with a 10-2 victory over AMA. The previous was five goals in a 9-4 win over RGV on 12/10. The franchise record for margin of victory is 10 goals in an 11-1 rout of LUB on 01/20/04.

- The Bucks have points in 13 of the last 14 on the road, going 11-1-2. The Bucks have won three straight and have points in five straight on the road.

HAT TRICKS - Bucks forward Jeff Bes had a hat trick on 02/22 vs. AMA. It was the fourth hat trick of the season for Laredo. - 02/25/07 - SUNDAY - vs. AUSTIN - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks dominated early, and then rallied for a 4-3 victory over the visiting Austin Ice Bats at the LEC on Sunday night in front of 5,113 fans. Defenseman Adam Rivet potted the game winning goal in the third period to give Laredo the win. The Bucks fired a season high 27 first period shots and totaled 51 on the night as they won their sixth straight. Overall Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 34-13-5 with 73 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by eleven points with one game in hand in the Southeast Division race. Kevin Reiter stopped 26 of 29 shots and got the win to improve to 12-5-1. Miguel Beaudry made 47 terrific saves on 51 shots, but took the loss to fall to 12-8-8. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Austin 3.

- 02/24/07 - SATURDAY - @ CORPUS CHRISTI - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 4-3 at the American Bank Center on Saturday night in front of 4,315 fans. Forward Igor Pohanaka scored a pair of goals, including the game wining goal in the third period to propel Laredo to their fifth straight win. The Bucks have points in 13 of their last 14 road games, going 11-1-2. Overall Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 33-13-5 with 71 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by nine points with two games in hand in the Southeast Division race. Eric Marvin stopped 27 of 30 and improved to 17-5-4. Ron Vogel allowed four goals on 31 shots and fell to 18-11-4. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Corpus Christi 3.

- 02/22/07 - THURSDAY - vs. AMARILLO - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks hammered the Amarillo Gorillas 10-2 at the LEC on Thursday night in front of 5,472 rowdy fans. Forward Jeff Bes scored four goals as the Bucks set a new season high for goals in a game and posted their largest margin of victory this year. Overall Laredo won their fourth straight game and everyone in attendance got a free frosty from Wendy because the Bucks scored at least six goals. Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 32-13-5 with 69 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by nine points with a game in hand in the Southeast Division race. Kevin Reiter allowed two goals on 17 shots and improved to 11-5-1. Shawn Conschafter allowed five goals on 26 shots in 29:24 and took the loss to fall to 14-11-1. Jamie Vandespyker gave up five goals on 12 shots in 30:36 of relief and did not factor in the decision. FINAL SCORE Laredo 10, Amarillo 2.

- Single game tickets for the Bucks start at $14.95. Of the 32 home games, 25 will take place on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Game times will remain the same for the 2006-07 season. Weekday games begin at 7 p.m., while Friday and Saturday night games are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday games will be at 4 p.m.
