Harrisburg Senators News Release
Gilbert Lara hit a two-out grand slam to cap a seven run ninth inning for the Senators in their 7-3 win over the Akron RubberDucks Saturday night at Canal Park. Harrisburg used three walks, two hit batters, a wild pitch, a single and the grand slam to score seven times and delay the Akron celebration. Harrisburg had only one hit entering the ninth inning. Akron still leads Richmond by one game with one game remaining in the first half.
Franklyn Kilome pitched six strong innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked three. At one point he retired seven straight RubberDucks. Reid Schaller pitched two scoreless frames. Schaller earned the win when the Sens rallied. Zach Brzykcy walked two in the ninth but struck out the final two batters he faced.
Wilmer Perez had the first hit for the Senators, a bouncing single through the middle with one out in the sixth inning. Justin Connell drove in the tying run with a single in the ninth. Lara's grand slam was the only other hit for the Sens.
The Senators snapped their seven-game winning streak with the rally. They sent ten batters to the plate in the ninth inning. The seven runs is the second largest inning of the season.
