ALLEN, CROZIER TRADED IN SEPARATE DEALS

Providence, RI --

The Providence Bruins announced today that veteran left wing Darryl Laplante has been acquired by the Boston Bruins and assigned to Providence. Laplante was acquired from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for left wing Greg Crozier. In another deal, P-Bruins defenseman Bobby Allen was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for defenseman Sean Brown. Laplante is expected to be in the P-Bruins' lineup on Wednesday, March 20th, when they host their East Division rivals, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, at 7:05 p.m.

Laplante, now playing in his fifth professional season, had 11-6-17 totals and 57 PIM in 31 games with the Wild's AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros. His rights were traded to Edmonton as part of a deal for goaltender Bill Ranford on January 11, 1996. Brown has played in the NHL full-time with Edmonton since the 1998-99 season, and will report to Boston.

Allen, a rookie out of Boston College, had 5-10-15 totals in 49 games. Crozier had 5-6-11 totals in 54 games.
