DENVER â The Colorado Mammoth welcomed back more of its core players on Tuesday with the signings of forwards Brian Langtry and Josh Sims. The team also announced it has signed backup goaltenders Erik Miller and Tom Still, defenseman B.J. Potter, and transition player Jeff Sonke.
Langtry, the 2003 National Lacrosse League rookie of the year, has been a vital component of the Mammoth offense during his two seasons in Colorado. Langtry has tallied 112 points on 52 goals and 60 assists in 31 games for the Mammoth. He also has eight points on seven goals and one assist in three playoff games.
"Brian is a talented and passionate player who has really helped define the identity of this team," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "We are thrilled to have this fan favorite back on the team."
Langtry, 28, is a native of Massapequa, N.Y., and stayed on Long Island for college, where he starred at Hofstra University. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound sharpshooter now lives in Colorado with his wife, Missy, and is a teacher in the Cherry Creek school district.
Sims, 26, graduated from Princeton University and has played his entire professional career for the Washington-Colorado franchise, recording 93 points on 36 goals and 57 assists in 52 games. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Annapolis, Md., lives in Boulder, Colo., and is co-founder of Icon Lacrosse.
"Josh's skill and speed have made him a consistent contributor to our offense," Govett said. "But his toughness and commitment to this team are really what sets him apart."
Miller, a six-year NLL veteran, was 2-0 with an 11.64 goals against average last season as the Mammoth's No. 2 goaltender. Still, the team's No. 3 goaltender, did not play in any games last year.
Both Potter and Sonke were rookies for Colorado last season. Potter tallied seven points (four goals, three assists) in seven games, while Sonke added three points (two goals, one assists) in three games.
