Minnesota Swarm acquires forward Derek Malawsky, defenseman Brock Robertson and forward D'Arcy Sweet

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced tonight that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) club has acquired forward Derek Malawsky, defenseman Brock Robertson, forward D'Arcy Sweet and the Rochester Knighthawks first round pick (6th overall) in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for forward Mike Accursi, forward Ken Millin, Minnesota's first round selection (8th overall) and fourth round selection (32nd overall) in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft.

Malawsky, 31 (6/9/73), notched 78 points (24-54=78) and 125 loose balls in 16 contests with the Rochester last season. He ranked tied for fourth in the NLL in assists, fifth in loose balls and ninth in scoring. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward also tallied eight points (5-3=8) in one playoff game for the Knighthawks last year. Malawsky played for Team Canada at the 2002 World Lacrosse Championships in Perth, Australia. He won a gold medal at the 2003 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships and was a member of the 2003 Victoria Shamrocks Mann Cup championship team. The Vancouver, British Columbia-native has collected 382 points (135-247=382) and 528 loose balls in 82 career NLL contests during six seasons with Ontario, Buffalo and Rochester. Malawsky was originally selected by the Ontario Raiders in the second round of the 1998 NLL Entry Draft. He played college lacrosse at Sonoma State.

Robertson, 23 (1/21/81), appeared in five games with the Knighthawks last season and recorded 19 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman has recorded one goal, 17 loose balls and 39 penalty minutes in 14 career NLL contests during two seasons with Albany and Rochester. Albany originally selected the Orillia, Ontario-native in the fifth round (59th overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft.

Sweet, 30 (8/8/74), last played in the NLL with Rochester during the 2002 campaign and tallied 37 points (18-19=37) and 122 loose balls in 16 contests. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward has recorded 103 points 47-56=103) and 314 loose balls in 42 career NLL contests during three seasons with Buffalo and Rochester. The Sharon, Ontario-native attended Butler University. Buffalo originally selected Sweet in the first round (25th overall) of the 1999 NLL Entry Draft.

Minnesota acquired Accursi in a trade with Buffalo on October 25 and obtained Millen in a trade with Toronto on October 20.
