Omaha Lancers News Release
RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers capped off their marathon, nine-game regular season series vs. the Tri City Storm with a 4-1 win at Ralston Arena on Friday, but following a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of the Lincoln Stars on Saturday, wrapped up their two-game weekend homestand in first place alone in the overall USHL and Western Conference standings at 26-7-4 so far this season. On Friday, Omaha's fourth line of Brian Williams (1G, 1A), Louie Rowe (2A) and Nash Worden (1G), combined for five total points and the game-winning goal in a 4-1 Lancers win over the Storm that featured additional goals from Ryan Tait and Jake Randolph and single assists from Connor Light, Jimmy Schuldt, Tyler Vesel and Gage Hough . The victory sealed the Lancers' record vs. their rivals from Kearney at 8-1-0 in 2013-14. Then on Saturday, the Lancers aided in the fight against brain cancer by sporting, then auctioning off, specialty " Leap-for-a-Cure " jerseys in a 4-0 loss to Lincoln that was presented by Methodist Health System. In a game that began with a fight between two of the league's top three penalty minute leaders, Rowe (116 PIM) and Stars captain Zach Frye (137 PIM), off the opening faceoff, a controversial second goal for Lincoln helped lift the Stars to their first victory over the Lancers at Ralston Arena this year in front of a sellout crowd of 3,762 fans. Next up for the Lancers, it's a nother big home weekend, as Omaha plays host to the Sioux City Musketeers (23-10-2, 48 pts., 3rd in Western Conference) on Friday at Ralston Arena on " Lancers Legends Night ", presented by the Omaha Lancers Booster Club, before welcoming the defending Anderson and Clark Cup Champion Dubuque Fighting Saints (21-10-1, 43 pts., 2nd in Eastern Conference) to town on Saturday for " Girl Scout Night ", presented by ConAgra Foods.
