Indiana Ice News Release
GET THE BROOMS OUT: Indy proved to me the more dominant force as the Ice swept the host Fargo Force in two games at Scheels Arena on Friday and Saturday. Strict defense and sharp goaltending fueled Indy in Friday's 2-0 shutout win over Fargo. Jason Pawloski would turn aside all 12 shots for his second shutout of the season while Jason Salvaggio and Dwyer Tschantz would provide the necessary offense for the Ice. Newly acquired goaltender Hayden Stewart made a memorable Indy debut with 11 save on 12 shots to earn the 4-1 over Fargo on Saturday. Denis Smirnov led the scoring with a pair of goals while Scott Conway walked away with a pair of helpers in the match. Dwyer Tschantz and Josh Jacobs also recorded tallies in the contest.
SEVEN-ELEVEN: Ice forward Scott Conway extended his impressive points tear to 11 consecutive games with a trio of assists against the Fargo Force last weekend. He added a single helper to his name in Friday's 2-0 shutout win, collaborating on Dwyer Tschantz's third-period marker before recording a pair of assists in Saturday's 4-1 victory. The Penn State-commit currently leads all Icemen in scoring with 34 points (17G, 17A) and is only two games shy of tying the franchise point streak mark (13) set by Daniil Tarasov (Worcester-AHL) set in the 2011-12 season.
CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN: Indy's defense was particularly stingy against the Fargo Force last weekend as the Ice held the hosts to 12 shots in each of two contests and single-digit shot counts in all six regulation periods this season. Shot limitation has been Indy's bread and butter this season as the team leads the league in shots allowed per game (24.06) while sitting second in shots per game (38.61).
ROAD WARRIORS: The Ice has been eliminating home ice advantage for many USHL clubs as the team is riding a USHL season-high eight-game road winning streak (11/23/13-present) with their last away loss coming from a 5-4 decision against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Indy has also been taking away the advantage in the scoring column, outscoring hosts 32-13 with two shutouts during the eight-game stretch.
