Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce they have tendered forward Jake Henderson for the 2013-2014 season. The St. Louis, Missouri native, who turned 16 in early February, spent this past season with the St. Louis AAA Blues and will join the Lancers next season.
"With the signing of Jake Henderson, we have made our organization a stronger and more competitive hockey team without sacrificing the ability to produce offense," Lancers Associate Head Coach/Director of Recruiting Leigh Mendelson said. "Jake has a very good skill set and competitive nature along with the size and strength of a prototypical power forward."
In 26 games with the Blues during the regular season, Henderson registered 11 goals, 15 assists and 26 points to go along with 26 penalty minutes. The 6'2", 185-pound forward then notched six goals, five assists and 11 points in just five postseason contests.
"The high caliber of talent within the St. Louis AAA Blues system along with the hard work of their coaching staff has done a great job of preparing Henderson for success at the next level," Mendelson said.
Omaha (33-26-1, 67 pts.) returns to action tonight as the team travels to the Lincoln Ice Box to open up a home-and-home weekend series with the Stars. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM and the game can be heard live locally in Omaha on the Mighty 1290 AM KOIL. The Lancers are then back at Ralston Arena tomorrow evening for their final regular season meeting with Lincoln. Puck drop is set for 7:15 PM and tickets can be purchased online at www.homepridetix.com .
