Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League announced today that Pan Am Sports Incorporated will assume operations of the Pan Am Plaza rinks, following the recent departure of the Indiana World Skating Academy (IWSA) from the downtown establishment.
In conjunction with the announcement, Pan Am Sports Incorporated has signed an interim management agreement with the Kite Realty Group. Plans call for the Pan Am Pavilion to open for winter sports after renovations are completed this summer.
"The IWSA and Pam Robinson are vital to the figure skating community as demonstrated by their commitment to the sport and the many accomplishments achieved at the international level over the last 27 years," said Justin Hart, senior VP and COO of the Indiana Ice. "The entire Indiana Ice organization wishes the IWSA and Pam Robinson much success in the future
The Pan Am Pavilion will be the official training facility of the Indiana Ice again next season and will welcome the Indiana Junior Ice U18 and U16 youth teams to the Pavilion alongside the USHL club next season. The facility will also contract out to a variety of other Ice user groups as the new management team takes shape over the summer.
"We hope to position the facility and team with USA Hockey to grow the game and continue to build on our USHL brand," said Jason Burkman, VP of the Indiana Ice and GM of the Pan Am Pavilion. "We look forward to celebrating our tenth anniversary season next year at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and our current training facility at the Pan Am Pavilion. We also have several exciting announcements forthcoming for next year including September's USHL Eastern Fall Classic and the Bigfoot Youth Hockey Showcase."
Both rinks will be closed for renovations following the culmination of the Indiana Ice season.
