
Lancers Take on Roughriders for First of Two Meetings

Omaha hosts Cedar Rapids for the first time since February 13, 2016. It is the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
Last Season:
Friday will be the first of two match ups of the season between Omaha and Cedar Rapids. Omaha swept the season series last year topping the RoughRiders by a pair of matching 4-1 victories. The final game of last years' season series came on February 13 of last year.
Lancers captain Nick Rivera led Omaha scorers notching a goal in each game. Current Lancer Mike Joyaux recorded an assist to go along with a plus-two rating. Cedar Rapids defenseman Ben Foley is the only RoughRider to pick up a point in the two games last season. Foley had one assist in the first meeting of the season. Netminder Zack LaRocque faced Omaha once stopping 24 of 28 shots.
Omaha will travel to Cedar Rapids to finish the series on March 15.
Scouting the RoughRiders:
Despite finding themselves at the bottom of the USHL Cedar Rapids has recorded four of their seven wins since the calendar turned to 2017. In addition the RoughRiders have tallied points in six of their last 13 games.
Cedar Rapids is led offensively by returner Zac Robbins. The forward tops the RoughRiders with 17 points (8g, 9a). His 8 goals are tied with Bobby Hampton for the team lead as well. Defenseman Ben Foley paces the RoughRiders with 12 assists on the season.
Between the pipes rookie Drew DeRidder and Zack LaRocque have split time this season. DeRidder, a '00 birth year, has appeared in 27 games with a record of 6-17-0-0, to go along with a goals against average of 3.53 and a save percentage of .886. LaRoucque, a returner, has seen action in 19 games going 1-12-2-0, with a goals against average of 3.97, and save percentage of .876.
Pettey's Points:
After only recording ten points in the first 34 games of his USHL career, Omaha's Emilio Pettersen has nearly doubled his point total in the last eight games. Since January 27 against Waterloo the Norweigan native has tallied eight point (4g, 4a) including two multi-point games.
Before scoring against Waterloo Pettersen hadn't found the back of the net since November 26 against Team USA. During that span Pettersen had only recorded one point, an assist. The recent stretch also marks only the third time that the forward has recorded a point in back-to-back games. He has three three-game point streaks this season.
