
Lancers Spoil Storm Home Opener in OT, 4-3

KEARNEY, NE - The Omaha Lancers spoiled the Tri-City Storms 2019 Home Opener on Friday night in shootout fashion winning 4-3.
In the first period and on the power-play, Colby Ambrosio (5:06) scored the lone goal of the period to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
Early in the second frame, Rhett Pitlick (1:18) sniped the puck in past, Daniel Allin, to even the game 1-1. The Storm went back on the power-play take back the 2-2 lead when Felix Carenfelt (6:04) scored. Seconds later, Ryan Lautenbach (6:37) evened up the game 2-2 with his first goal as a Lancer. Nearing the end of the period, Jackson Decker (13:34) scored from the blue line to give the Lancers a 3-2 lead going into the second intermission.
The Storm evened the game 3-3 with a goal by Ian Murphy (9:31) to force overtime. In the extra frame, neither team found twine, and the game went onto a shootout. Matthew Sutton shot first and scored for the Lancers. The next three scorers could not get the puck past either goaltender. Rhett Pitlick was the third shooter for the Lancers who scored and sealed the 4-3 win for the Lancers. Akira Schmid stopped 25 of the 28 Storm shots he faced in tonight's victory.
The Lancers are now 2-1-0-0 on the year with 4 points.
The Lancers return to action Saturday night to face off against the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA. Catch all of the action on News Talk 1290 AM or on HockeyTV.
