Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. - The Lancers concluded its season series with the Sioux City Musketeers Thursday night (2/8) at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Sioux City had come off a 4-1 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks Tuesday Night (2/6) at Young Arena in Waterloo. Meanwhile the Lancers would look to get back on track after a rough weekend last week.

The first period would open with the Musketeers firing early.

Sioux City would strike first with a wrister from the blue-line by defenseman Ty Hanson to make it a 1-0 Musketeer lead.

Sioux City would cap off the first period with another tally this time coming by way of the power-play as Colin Kessler wrists one past Lancer net-minder Mikhail Yegorov to extend Sioux City's lead at 2-0 going into the second period of play.

The second period would pick up where the first period would leave off as forward Max Strand would score off a fluky bounce out in front; ricocheting off a Lancer skate and going 5-hole past Yegorov to give the 'Muskies a 3-0 advantage.

Sioux City would continue to build on its lead as forward Colin Kessler would get on the board again stretching Sioux City's lead at 4-0.

The Lancers would not come out of the second period totally empty-handed as forward David Deputy-fresh off an injury would put Omaha on the board late in the middle frame to give the Lancers life headed into the locker room down three.

The third period however, had the Musketeers come out red hot once again.

The league's leader in goal scoring and Kaden Shahan would open the third with a 5-1 advantage.

Shortly thereafter, Ethan Gardula would get on the board for the 'Muskies to stretch Sioux City's lead at 6-1.

However, David Deputy would get Omaha back on the board to make it 6-2; after a beautiful wrist shot from above the face-off circle.

Sioux City's Kaden Shahan would answer right back putting Sioux City back in front by 5.

For good measure, Sioux City defenseman Sam Court would make it 8-2.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena to take on the Tri-City Storm. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
