Madison Capitols News Release
MIDDLETON, Wisc. - The Capitols are proud to host the team's annual Be The Miracle Night on February 17th at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena. The team will face off against the reigning Clark Cup champion Youngstown Phantoms as part of the night that benefits youth hockey in the Madison area.
The annual event for the Capitols comes just days before the 44th anniversary of 'Miracle on Ice.' To celebrate that Madison will be dawning their USA themed jerseys and giving away bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans in attendance that night.
As for the bobblehead, the Capitols have announced that the bobblehead will be Neal Broten. The Broten bobblehead marks the sixth season that Madison has handed out a souvenir of a player or coach from the gold medal winning team.
Bob Suter was a member of the team in 1980 that upset the Soviets in the semi-final that has went down as one of the biggest upsets in sporting history. As Bob always said, "It's all about the kids." Members of the Suter family will be in attendance at the game participating in a pregame ceremony.
The Bob Suter Memorial Foundation has followed along that tradition annually handing out equipment to keep hockey growing here in the Madison area. This season, the foundation was able to donate to twelve different associations. The foundation will be the primary benefactor of the night's jersey auction that will run throughout the weekend. The auction of the Capitols USA themed jerseys will close at 6 pm on Sunday night.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm on February 17th at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton for the event, which is game two of a series against Youngstown. Dollar Beer Night presented by Coors Light on Friday will be game one of the two game series and is expected to be a sellout.
