RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday night by a final score of 4-1.
The Lumberjacks took the 1-0 lead when Daniel Gushchin (4:38) scored on Jakub Dobes. The Lancers evened the game 1-1 when Zach Plucinski (5:32) fired the puck from the left circle to score beating Jonathan Williams.
In the second period, the Lancers did not let their foot off the gas scoring three goals. Grant Anderson (3:11) kicked off the scoring from the right circle. Ryan Sorkin (12:43) got the Lancers ahead 3-1 scoring on his ex-team. Brian Silver (15:54) ended the period scoring and getting the Lancers ahead 4-1.
Neither team would score in the final period as the Lancers would take game one of the weekend series, 4-1. Jakub Dobes picked up his first USHL win stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced.
The Lancers and Lumberjacks will battle again tomorrow night for game two of the weekend series at 7:05 pm.
