Omaha Lancers News Release
RALSTON, NE - David Wilkie, Head Coach and General Manager of the Omaha Lancers, today announced that the team has acquired defenseman Nash Nienhuis, forward Luke Mobley and Cullin Wilson (Affiliate) along with draft picks from the Muskegon Lumberjacks. In the deal, the Lancers traded forwards Rhett Pitlick and Cam Berg, defenseman Dylan Davies and Tyler Dunbar (Affiliate) along with draft picks.
"A deal like this is usually one that you would see closer to the trade deadline, but it happened November this year," General Manager and Head Coach David Wilkie said.
Nienhuis, 19, has played in all 17 games this season for the Lumberjacks totaling 9 points (9a). The Sarnia, Ontario native spent the last two seasons in Muskegon playing in 110 games and recording 19 points (2g, 17a).
Mobley, 19, has also played in all 17 games this year with the Lumberjacks and has recorded 11 points (7g, 4a) on the year. The 6'2", 203-pound forward spent last season in the North American Hockey League playing for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs totaling 47 points (19g, 28a). Mobley is committed to playing NCAA hockey at Clarkson University.
"We feel with the current makeup of our roster these two players will be immediate impact drivers in our lineup," Wilkie said.
Pitlick appeared in 17 games this year with Omaha recording 11 points (4g, 7a). A native of Chaska, MN, was a 5th round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens. Pitlick is committed to the University of Minnesota.
Berg, who was a tender pick by the Lancers in 2018, played 65 games totaling 14 points (5g, 9a). The West Fargo, ND native is committed to playing NCAA hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Davies was acquired by the Lancers in a deal with the Youngstown Phantoms. Davies appeared in 11 games this season with the Lancers. The Traverse, City, MI native is committed to RPI (Rensselaer Polytech. Inst.).
