AVON, Ohio -- The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, scored four times in the eighth inning to snap a six-game losing streak on Wednesday night at Sprenger Health Care Stadium, as they defeated the Washington Wild Things, 6-3.

The win for the Crushers (14-21) brought their longest losing streak of the season to a close, while the loss for the Wild Things (18-16) snapped a three-game winning streak against the Crushers.

The Crushers took their first lead of the series by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Sean Hurley started the inning with an infield single, before advancing to second after Josh McAdams was walked. Connor Oliver followed by blasting a RBI double to right, scoring Hurley in the process to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead. Moments later, McAdams scored on Tanner Lubach's sac fly RBI.

Washington responded with a run in the top of the third. John Fidanza recorded Washington's first hit, after Payton Lobdell retired the first seven batters he faced. Fidanza doubled down the line in left, and scored on Rashad Brown's RBI single.

The Wild Things were pretty quiet offensively over the next few innings, before taking advantage of a pair of two-out extra base hits to score a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead. Brown walked with one out, and came around to score the game tying run on Brailin Jackson's two-out RBI triple to center. Jackson scored the go-ahead run four pitches later as Kane Sweeney hit an opposite field double down the line in left give Washington a 3-2 lead.

Lake Erie's offense came to life in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring four times to take the lead and they never looked back. They had the bases loaded with one out, when Cody Lenehan belted a two-run single to left field, giving the Crushers a 4-3 advantage. Later in the inning, Lubach delivered again with a two-run double down the line in left to plate the game's final runs.

Seth Lucio (1-0) took the victory for the Crushers, tossing a scoreless eighth inning, his second in as many nights. Chandler Jagodzinski (9) tossed a perfect ninth inning to score the save. Vince Apicella (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs after only facing three batters in the eighth inning.

Murray was the only Crusher to hit safely multiple times, going 2-for-4 in the contest, while Hurley reached safely three times on the night, and Lubach drove in three of Lake Erie's six runs.

The Crushers will finish their three-game series with the Washington Wild Things at Sprenger Health Care Stadium on Thursday night. Right-hander Steve Hagen (3-2, 4.24) will make the start for the Crushers and the Wild Things will counter with left-hander Brian O'Keefe (0-2, 3.10). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
