
LAFC to Host Portland Timbers in Quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) gets set to host the Portland Timbers for the second time in four days, this time in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night at Banc of California Stadium.
Kickoff tomorrow is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on LAFC.com, and broadcast on ESPNLA 710 AM (English) and KFWB 980 AM "La Mera La Mera' (Spanish).
In their first year participating in the tournament, the Black & Gold reached the quarterfinals after defeating Fresno FC (2-0) in the fourth round on June 6 and Sacramento Republic FC (3-2) in the round of 16 on June 20.
Meanwhile, the Timbers advanced to the last eight after taking out the other two California teams in Major League Soccer. The Cascadia side downed San Jose Earthquakes (2-0) on June 6 before edging LA Galaxy (1-0) on June 15.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the oldest soccer competition in the United States, is an annual tournament open to all United States Soccer Federation (USSF) amateur and professional affiliated soccer teams. This year, 94 teams participated, including all 20 U.S.-based Major League Soccer clubs.
