Forward Carlos Vela once again found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute to give LAFC an early lead. Vela became the first player in MLS history to score 30 goals and record 15 assists in a single season. He is now one goal away from tying the MLS record for goals in a season. Houston would tie things up five minutes later with a shot that rebounded off Tyler Miller and into the back of the net.
In the 70th minute, forward Diego Rossi would head home his 16th of the season after a shot by Tristan Blackmon was deflected off the crossbar falling to Rossi at the far post. Twelve minutes later, Eduard Atuesta tallied the third of the night with a bending free kick into the far post.
Next up for LAFC is a first-ever trip to Allianz Field to take on Minnesota United FC on Sunday, September 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on YouTube TV, Univision KVMD, ESPN 710 AM, KFWB 980.
