SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes fell to the Philadelphia Union 2-1 on Wednesday night at Avaya Stadium, snapping a 12-match home unbeaten streak (10-0-2) that dated back to April 6. It marked San Jose's first loss at home since March 30.
Midfielder Jackson Yueill netted his third goal of the season in the 35th minute to give San Jose a 1-0 lead going into halftime. A second Earthquakes goal was negated after narrowly being deemed offsides by video review. Philadelphia capitalized by scoring two goals in quick succession during the second half. San Jose thought they had earned an equalizing penalty kick late in the match, but video review reversed the decision once again.
The Earthquakes remain at home to take on Seattle Sounders FC in their final home match of the season on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 4:15 p.m. PT (NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050, 1370 KZSF).
