Huntsville, AL - Three Braves continued their streaks and the Mississippi Braves scored four times in the ninth to win a thriller over the Huntsville Stars 6-5 on Saturday night at Joe Davis Stadium.

Trailing 4-2 entering the ninth, Dan Brewer smacked an RBI double down the right field line off Stars closer Greg Holle, plating Jose Martinez from second to start the scoring. With men on second and third, Mycal Jones clubbed a single to left to plate both, giving the Braves a 5-4 lead for good.

A Tommy La Stella RBI single plated Jones for insurance, and Mississippi cashed in on the policy, needing every last run to hold off Huntsville in the bottom of the ninth.

For La Stella, it was his third hit of a record-setting night. In the first inning, he pounded an RBI double down the first base line, extending his hit streak to 21 games, the longest streak in Mississippi Braves history. The previous record was set at 20 by Carl Loadenthal in 2007.

The record breaker scored Jones in the first, who singled on the first pitch of the game to extend his hit streak to 13 games.

Christian Bethancourt also extended his record-chasing on-base streak to 31 games with a single in the fourth inning. Willie Cabrera set the mark in 2009 at 38 consecutive games.

Gus Schlosser pitched a strong five innings, allowing just two hits for a run in the no-decision. Ryne Harper (5-2) picked up the win, pitching the final two innings. Huntsville scored a run on a Nick Shaw RBI infield hit in the ninth, but Harper struck out Jason Rogers with the tying run standing at third in the bottom of the ninth to preserve his win.

Stars leftfielder Brock Kjeldgaard homered twice in the ballgame. With the Braves leading 1-0 in the second, he homered off Schlosser to tie the game 1-1, his 17th home run of the year.

Jaime Pedroza broke the tie in the fifth with a solo home run to right, his third of the year to put the Braves up 2-1.

Kjeldgaard came up again in the sixth with two on and two out, sending a 3-2 pitch to left-center off Gary Moran to give Huntsville a 4-2 lead. It stayed that way until the come-from-behind ninth.

In addition to La Stella's three hits, Jones, Pedroza and Christian Marrero all had two hits in the win.

With 9 wins in their last 12 games, the Mississippi Braves look to continue rolling in game three of the five game series with Huntsville, with first pitch slated for 4:03 PM CT Sunday afternoon. Mississippi right-hander Mitch Atkins (3-1, 2.76) gets the nod against Stars right-hander Taylor Jungmann (9-7, 3.76). Listen live to Kyle Tait on the call beginning at 3:30 PM CT with the "Countdown to First Pitch" on 103.9 WYAB and online at MississippiBraves.com.
