MOBILE, Ala. (August 4, 2013) - Jackson (19-21) featured a three-run sixth inning and added solid pitching to get back on track Sunday night producing a win over the Mobile BayBears (22-21), 3-1. The Generals' pitching staff allowed only six hits and Jackson swiped six bags, tying a season-high to help snap a two-game slide. The season series is now tied at 4-4 between the two teams.

Anthony Fernandez (W, 8-5, 4.01) earned his team-leading eighth win of the year and is now 2-0 against Mobile this year. The lefty managed six innings and only surrendered one run on five hits. Fernandez walked one and struck out two, and finished by getting nine groundball outs on the night.

Mobile had another terrific start, this time by David Homberg (ND, 2.79), who never allowed a run in five innings. Jackson struck for three runs against BayBears' reliever Mark Serrano in the sixth. Julio Morban (2-4, R), Ramon Morla (2-3, R), John Hicks (1-3, R, RBI) and Jabari Blash (1-4, RBI, 2B) all had hits in the inning. Blash recorded his second RBI after hitting a home run in his first Double-A at bat on Saturday night and Hicks extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Jackson was in serious trouble in the eighth inning, but Carson Smith (2.28) wiggled his way out of it. Tyler Burgoon (1.87) worked a scoreless seventh, but walked two in the eighth. Smith came on with runners at second and third and one out. The Generals' closer struck the next batter and got a ground ball to end the inning. Smith finished the ninth by striking out the side for a five-out save, his 12th of the season.

Five Generals had a steal, and Jack Marder (1-2, BB, 2 SB) had two of his own, totaling six on the night, which tied a season-high. Jackson was 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base, but was still better then Mobile who was 0-for-8 in the same category. The Generals are now only four games back of first place in the Southern League North Division.

Monday's game will start at 7:05 p.m. (CT). Anthony Vasquez (1-1, 3.38) gets the ball for the Generals. Vasquez will go against Bo Schultz (4-2, 2.68). The game can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio, TuneIn Radio App. and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
