LA Galaxy Hit the Links to Benefit the LA Galaxy Foundation

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The LA Galaxy took a well-deserved break from their chase for the Supporters' Shield to spend the day out on the links at the Trump National Golf Course on Monday afternoon.

Fresh off a hectic schedule that saw the team play nine games in a little over 30 days, the outing presented the players an opportunity to unwind and interact with several of the club's sponsors and partners all for the benefit of the Galaxy Foundation.

"I loved it. Any time that you get on the links is a quality time for me. To get away from soccer and all the stresses is brilliant. I enjoy every minute of it," Alan Gordon told LAGalaxy.com. "It's a chance to get to know our sponsors, the rest of the guys, and other people who are putting money to what we do. Everyone cares about us and it's all good."

Each of the players was matched up with different donors and sponsors for the day-long tournament that ended with a reception at the Trump National clubhouse. At the end of the day, club president Chris Klein's group took home the title, dethroning Galaxy midfielder Juninho who won the championship a year earlier.

Even though Klein took home the top honors, the Galaxy players were excited for their opportunity to swing the clubs.

"It was fun. We had a great time," said LA right back Dan Gargan. "I got to play with some great guys who were fantastic golfers. We put forth a good performance even though I've never been much of golfer before this, after this or during this, but I look doing it so hopefully they keep inviting me back."

Added Gordon, "I hit some good shots and I was with a great group of golfers, but unfortunately we were beaten in the end."

And all the fun had on the cliffs of Rancho Palos Verdes could only help a team in the thick of the Supporters' Shield chase with the MLS Cup Playoffs looming in the horizon.

"It was nice to have a day off and support a good cause while sharing some laughs with the guys," said Gargan. "We got a chance to compete in a light hearted way in a totally new sport and simply bond."
