BATTLE FOR FIRST PLACE SET AS L.A. GALAXY HEAD TO DALLAS: First place in Major League Soccer's Western Conference will be on line Saturday, May 8 as the Los Angeles Galaxy (2-1-2, 8 pts, T-1st West) do battle with the Dallas Burn (2-0-2, 8 pts, T-1st West) at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas at 1 pm (PT), live on ESPN2. These bitter rivals will renew their hatred for one another in the first meeting between them in the 2004 season. The Galaxy presently hold a 14-9-9 advantage over the Burn in MLS' first eight seasons, however, they have struggled in Dallas during their history, mustering only a 5-7-5 record away from home against the Burn. Galaxy fans wanting to listen to the game on the radio can hear it live on KMPC 1540 AM (English) and KMXE 830 AM (Spanish).

VIEWING PARTIES AT LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHLAND FOR BURN MATCH: When the Galaxy are on the road, why not join other Galaxy fans at the club's official Away Game Viewing Parties. Come cheer on your team at the following Galaxy friendly bars and restaurants. Every Away Game Viewing Party will feature the Galaxy game on the restaurants' televisions, food and drink specials and Galaxy giveaways. TORRES TO ATTEND CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION AT THE WHITE HOUSE: Galaxy midfielder Arturo Torres will represent the club and MLS at a Cinco de Mayo Celebration at The White House Wednesday. Cinco de Mayo (May 5) is the Celebration of Mexico's Independence Day, Torres is a Mexican-American, whose parents hail from Morelia in the Michoacan region. The second-year midfielder will be bringing a Galaxy jersey with him, in hopes of presenting it to President Bush.

GALAXY PLAYERS TO MAKE SPECIAL VISIT TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF L.A. TUESDAY: Select members of the Los Angeles Galaxy will be paying a visit to the patients at Children's Hospital Los Angeles on Tuesday May 4. Among those expected to attend are: Cobi Jones, Peter Vagenas, Ryan Suarez and Ned Grabavoy.

RUIZ CALLED INTO GUATEMALAN NATIONAL SIDE FOR FRIENDLY WEDNESDAY: Los Angeles Galaxy forward Carlos Ruiz, the leading scorer thus far in the 2004 MLS regular season with 5 goals and 2 assists for 12 total points, has been called into the national team of his native Guatemala for a friendly this Wednesday against Haiti at Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City. The friendly comes as Guatemala continues preparations for the second round of CONCACAF qualifying to the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006, with the chapines slated to play a home-and-home series against Caribbean minnows Suriname on June 12 and 19.

GALAXY MAKE SPECIAL OFFER TO ALL MOTHERS FOR MAY 15 MATCH: The Los Angeles Galaxy resume their 2004 home schedule on Saturday, May 15 at 7 pm against John Spencer and the Colorado Rapids. In appreciation of all mothers, the Galaxy will host Soccer Mom Appreciation Night with all Moms receiving a free ticket for the game, if accompanied by a paid adult ticket. The match will be the Galaxy's second consecutive match against a Western Conference opponent, with the club traveling to Dallas to meet the Burn in the Cotton Bowl the previous week. GALAXY DROP FIRST OF 2004 AGAINST REVOLUTION: Goals from Joe Franchino and Jose Cancela gave the Revolution their first victory of the season as they knocked the Galaxy from the ranks of the MLS unbeaten with a 2-1 victory May 1 at Gillette Stadium. The Revs took advantage of two defensive mistakes made by the Galaxy, Joe Franchino left all alone to slot home in the opening minutes before midfielder Jose Cancela's 72nd-minute penalty kick proved to be the difference. Alejandro Moreno's first goal of 2004 provided the final margin of victory with almost the final kick of the game.

MAS GALAXY TO BREAK DOWN THE GALAXY AND THE BURN WEDNESDAY AT 8 PM: Más Galaxy, the club's Spanish-Language radio talk show, which airs each Wednesday at 8 pm on KMXE 830 AM, will give fans an inside look at the Galaxy-Burn match-up this week. The program, hosted by Troy Santiago and Rigoberto Cervantez, will feature interviews with players from each team as well as analysis by both Santiago and Cervantez. Remember Galaxy fans, for the latest news on your favorite team, tune in every Wednesday night throughout the 2004 season to Más Galaxy, only on KMXE 830 AM.

ON CHANNEL 22: Galaxy Deportivo, The weekly, half-hour Spanish language television show devoted to the Los Angeles Galaxy, can be seen this Saturday, May 8 at 3 p.m. on KWHY - Channel 22.
