Winston-Salem Dash News Release

Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem outfielder Tyler Kuhn was recently named Carolina League Player of the Week for the period of June 29-July 5. He becomes the third consecutive Dash player honored with a weekly award. Second baseman Dale Mollenhauer garnered player of the week honors for June 22-28 and Levi Maxwell was named pitcher of the week for June 15-21.

Kuhn, who was promoted from Low-A Kannapolis to Winston-Salem on June 18, has been on a tear at the plate since his arrival. He is currently hitting .432 (19-for-44) with a double, triple and 12 runs scored in his first 13 games with the Dash.

His prowess at the plate was on full-display last week when he went 13-for-20 (.650) with seven runs scored. The Dash outfielder tallied a pair of four-hit performances last week, including going 4-for-4 with three runs scored on June 30 against Potomac and a 4-for-5 outing on July 3 against Lynchburg.

Kuhn was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 15th round of the 2008 draft out of the University of West Virginia. He began the season with Kannapolis where he hit .299 with 10 doubles, 3 triples and 27 RBI in 58 games. He also stole 18 bases in 21 attempts prior to his promotion to Winston-Salem.

The Morgantown, West Virginia native made his professional debut with Advanced Rookie Great Falls in 2008 where he hit .375 with 3 home runs and 46 RBI in 62 games. He becomes the fourth Dash player to receive a weekly award this season joining Mollenhauer, Maxwell and outfielder Salvador Sanchez, who was named player of the week in the Carolina League for June 1-7.

The Dash and Red Sox square off in game two of this four-game series on Tuesday night at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Winston-Salem will send RHP Jacob Rasner (1-0, 3.11) to the mound, while Salem will counter with RHP Casey Kelly (1-3, 3.32). The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
