Kozak Out For Blazers Game

November 21, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Mississippi RiverKings right wing Rick Kozak will not play tonight in Oklahoma City against the Blazers because the Central Hockey League has suspended him for one game.

Referee Ian Croft assessed Kozak a match penalty for attempt to injure during the final minute of Saturday's 4-2 RiverKings victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the DeSoto Civic Center.

After RiverKings center Ryan Held scored into an empty net with 33 seconds remaining from the left circle, a crowd gathered in the right wing corner. RiverKings defenseman Steve Makway and Mudbugs forward Brett Smith got into a fight, and Kozak and Mudbugs forward Darryl Lloyd met down in the corner.

Kozak, 22, has six goals and three assists for the RiverKings this season. He leads the league with four game-winning goals, and his 60 penalty minutes rank him fourth. Going back to last season, Kozak has scored 20 goals for the RiverKings in 30 games.

Kozak will return to the RiverKings' lineup on Friday in Wichita against the Thunder. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
