The Corpus Christi Rayz concluded their season-high, five-game road trip on Wednesday night the same way they started it. Justin Quenneville's two goals and Geno Parrish's three assists were not enough in Texas as the Brahmas outlasted the Rayz 5-4. The Rayz opened the trip with a 5-4 loss on November 9th in Laredo. The Rayz dropped to 2-10-1 on the year, after their seventh one-goal defeat of the year. Corpus Christi will now return home for a pair of games this weekend. The RGV Killer Bees come to town on Saturday Night at 7:05pm and the New Mexico Scorpions visit on Sunday at 3:05pm. Tickets are on sale now. The Brahmas shot out of the gate with the games first goal thanks to a barrage of power plays awarded by referee Paul DePuydt. DePuydt whistled the Rayz two men down in the opening minutes and the Brahmas converted on a five-on-three power play when Scott Sheppard cut into the slot and took snapped a one-timer past Kevin Couture at 1:50. The Rayz answered later on the power play with their first shorthanded goal. Geno Parrish stole the puck and rushed two-on-one before feeding Justin Quenneville for a goal at 3:11. On another power play the Brahmas reclaimed the advantage when Gran Jacobson scored form the bottom of the slot on a rebound at 11:57. The Brahmas made it 3-1 at 13:50 when Brahmas rookie Tyler Skworchinski slapped a shot from the right circle that snuck through the body and arm of Couture and rolled onto the goal line when Anders Strome poked it home for the Brahmas two-goal lead. Following the goal, Jason Tapp replaced Couture in net for the Rayz. The Rayz clawed back within one when Quenneville scored his second of the night on a power play at 15:01. The Brahmas outshot the Rayz 15-13 in the frame.

The Rayz scored the lone goal of the second period at 7:56 on a power play when Kevin Watters found Adam Powell in the slot for a quick one-timer that beat David Cacciola and tied the game at 3-3. The Rayz outshot the Brahmas 11-5 in the period and the teams went into the final period deadlocked at three.

The Brahmas took a 4-3 lead early in the third when Greg McConnel scored at 2:49. The Rayz respondedand tied the game with a Brent Howarth power play goal at 7:52, but the Brahmas immediately came back. Just 14 seconds later, Jordan Cameron scored from the right circle to give the Brahmas the lead and eventual win. The Rayz tired a late comeback, but Adam Powell

Tapp became the goaltender of record, made 13 saves on 15 shots and fell to 2-8-1 taking the loss. Couture surrendered three goals on 12 shots and did not figure into the decision. Cacciola earned the win and improved to 7-4 turning aside 33 of 37 shots. The Rayz went 3-11 on the power play and the Brahmas were 2-7. The Rayz outshot the Brahmas 37-27. The Rayz fell to 0-8 on the road for the season.

Corpus Christi now returns homes for two straight games on Saturday Night and Sunday afternoon. On Saturday it's Military Appreciation Night on Z-95 College Night when the Rayz host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:05pm. All military personnel - past or present - will receive $5 discounts on tickets with their Military ID. The Rayz will also wear special military style jerseys that will be auctioned off at Katz 21 Steak and Spirits following the game. On Sunday, it's Caller-Times Family Day at 3:05pm as the Rayz host the New Mexico Scorpions. Kids 12 and under receive free tickets with a full paying adult - limit two kids per adult.
