The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Craig Kowlaski has been signed by the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
Kowalski played in 44 games with the Gladiators during the 2007-08 season and compiled a 29-12-2 record with a 2.33 goals against average and a 0.923 save percentage. All three numbers are good for second place for season bests among Gwinnett goaltenders.
The Clinton Township, MI native also started 7 of Gwinnett's 8 playoff games going 4-3 with 2 shutouts and tallying a 1.97 goals against average and a 0.934 save percentage.
Kowalski finished the season tied for the league lead in wins with 29, which also tied a career high. He was also finished fourth in the ECHL in both goals against average and save percentage.
The 5-foot-8-inch and 190-pound Kowalski also played in four games with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. He compiled a record of 2-1-0 with a 2.36 GAA and 0.906 SV%. He also recorded a shutout against the Rochester Americans on December 30, 2007. Kowalski made 19 saves in the 4-0 win.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
