Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx are proud to announce today that goaltender Seamus Kotyk has been named Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for the period ending October 23, 2005.

Kotyk finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, 0.59 GAA and .983 save percentage in just under five periods of hockey. The 25-year-old netminder came in to relieve injured Lynx starter Jason Wolfe on Friday night, allowing one goal in 39:01 of game play, and followed that performance with 31 saves in a 1-0 overtime win against Columbia on Sunday.

Originally selected by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Kotyk was assigned to the Lynx by the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League last Thursday. The London, Ontario native becomes the second goaltender in Lynx history to record a shutout in his first start with the club, joining Judd Lambert who accomplished the feat with a 5-0 blanking of Baton Rouge on October 17, 1998.

Kotyk will get the start on Tuesday night against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 pm as the Lynx play the first of five straight games on the road. Game coverage begins at 6:35 pm with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Augusta will then head to Gwinnett to battle the Gladiators on Friday night before traveling to Pensacola to duel with the Ice Pilots on Saturday night. The Lynx next home game will be November 11th against the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:05 pm.
