Ford, Turon and Landolt assigned from Toronto

Pensacola, Fla. - The 2005-06 Brabham Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that goalie Todd Ford, defenseman David Turon and center Shaun Landolt have been assigned to the Ice Pilots from the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. The Ice Pilots also waived goalie Trevor Cunning and defenseman Stefan Sjogren.

Ford, who stands 6'4" and weighs 190 pounds, played in 28 games for the Ice Pilots last season posting a record of 19-4-2 with a 2.32 goals against average and .930 save percentage. He represented the Ice Pilots in last year's ECHL All-Star game and was also named the ECHL's Rookie of the Month last December.

Ford played for Vancouver, Prince George and Swift Current of the WHL from 2000-2004. He was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round and was the 74th player taken overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Ford is 21 years old from Calgary, Alberta and catches left.

Turon, who stands 6'3" and weighs 202 pounds, played in 50 games with the Ice Pilots last season scoring 3 goals, 9 assists for 12 points and picked up 32 penalty minutes He also played in 8 games with Louisiana last year picking up four assists and four penalty minutes and one game with St. John's of the AHL picking up two penalty minutes.

Turon also played for Memphis in the CHL, Portland of the WHL and Havirov Femax HC of the Czech Republic. He was selected in the fourth round and was the 122nd overall player taken in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Turon is 22 years old from Havirov, Czech Republic and shoots right.

Landolt, who stands 6'2" and weighs 205 pounds, played in 68 games for Calgary last season in the WHL scoring 17 goals, 25 assists for 42 points picking up 89 penalty minutes. He joined Calgary of the WHL for two and a half seasons after playing for Moose Jaw of the WHL for two and a half years.

Landolt was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 8th round and was the 237th player taken overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He is 21 years old from Colverdale, British Columbia.

The Ice Pilots will play at Greenville on Friday night at 6:05 p.m. central and return home to play Augusta on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. It is "Pink Hat Night" on Saturday night. Fans can purchase an Ice Pilots Pink Hat at the game with all proceeds going to the Baptist Health Care Foundation's free mammogram program. An autograph session will take place after the game with Ice Pilots player's Matt Turek and Colin Peters.
