Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League have released center Chris Korchinski and signed right winger Paul McIlveen to a standard 25 game professional tryout agreement.
After making his first American Hockey League appearance on Tuesday evening in the Norfolk Admirals 3-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, McIlveen returned to Elmira last night to help the Jackals to a 5-2 win over the Dayton Bombers. McIlveen netted one goal added two assists on his way to being named the second star of the game.
McIlveen continues to climb the points latter for the second place Jackals. His 43 points are good enough for third place on the Jackals scoring chart while his six power play goals lead the team. The Waterloo, Ontario product netted one goal and added three assists in eight games this season for South Carolina. The 5'10'' 190 pound forward has shown his offensive powers since making his Jackals debut in Reading on November 22, 2008. In his first contest with the Jackals McIlveen netted one goal an added two assists. Now up to 15 goals and 24 assists in 43 games for Elmira, McIlveen has been a key player in the Jackals playoff run.
"Paul is benefiting from the increased ice time he has earned after coming to Elmira." Said Jackals Head Coach Steve Martinson. " He is emerging as a solid two way player." Martinson added.
The B-Sens are at Bridgeport tomorrow before traveling the Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Saturday.
