Konopka named Provident Bank Mighty Ducks Player of the Month

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Cincinnati center Zenon Konopka has been named the Provident Bank Mighty Ducks Player of the Month for January, 2005.

Konopka led Cincinnati in goals (seven) and tied for the club lead in points (13), power-play goals (three) and game-winning goals (two) in 13 games during the month.

He recorded three multiple-point games, including three-point efforts January 22 vs. Chicago (one goal, two assists) and January 29 vs. San Antonio (two goals, one assist). He finished the month with points in six of his last eight games, recording five goals and five assists in that stretch.

Konopka has appeared in 48 games with Cincinnati this season and ranks third on the club in points (30), goals (13), assists (17) and penalty minutes (133). He leads the Ducks with a plus-8 rating and is tied for second in game-winning goals (three).

In recognition of his achievement, Konopka will be presented with a plaque from Provident Bank prior to an upcoming Mighty Ducks home game.
