Fort Wayne, IN ---The Komets' assistant equipment manager Steve Wissman is expected to work his 2000th pro game this Sunday, March 17 when the Komets host the Evansville IceMen at the Memorial Coliseum.

Wissman, a Fort Wayne native, began his career in the late 1980's when he accepted his first pro position in the locker room as Komets' equipment manager and trainer. Wissman's career spans at least a 13-team resume including six seasons with the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League. In a letter congratulating Wissman on his significant milestone, the Profession Hockey Athletic Trainers Society (PHATS) and the Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers (SPHEM) states, "Very few Athletic Trainers or Equipment Managers ever reach this plateau. In Steve's case, his achievement comes after 25 seasons in Professional Hockey. The 2,000th game milestone is a testament to Steve's commitment, professionals and endurance. We are proud to count him among our 400 members."

Wissman returned to the Komets' locker room last season and teamed up with Komet equipment manager Joe Franke, who has worked nearly 3000 games himself during his career.

The Komets will honor Wissman with a pre-game ceremony Sunday when they face the visiting IceMen at 5pm.

Tickets for all Komet home games are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at TicketMaster.com. Komet season tickets for 2013-14 are on sale at the Komet office, 1010 Memorial Way in Fort Wayne. For more information visit www.komets.com or call the Komet office at 260-483-0011.
