Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets posted 3 wins extending their winning streak to a league season high 8 games and improved to 29-11-3 for 61 points and 2nd place in the Western Conference after 43 games and 15 weeks of the 2003-04 campaign. The 8-game win string ties the Komet's team record for a win streak in a UHL season set from Feb. 16 thru Mar. 2, 2001. The 6 points for the week moved the Komets to within 1 point of the league-leading Muskegon Fury.
The Komets started the week with their 7th straight road win 4-2 at Missouri Thursday. Winger Dustin Virag led with 3 assists in the match while Steve Rodberg, Kevin Kotyluk, Bobby Stewart and Danny Stewart each hit the net for Fort Wayne. Kevin St. Pierre earned his 23rd win of the season on 26 saves and extended the goalie's league-high road winning streak to 8 games.
Friday the Komets welcomed the Elmira Jackals to Fort Wayne with a 5-0 whitewashing. It was St. Pierre's 5th shutout of the season, 3rd in 5 games, and 17th career. It was St. Pierre's 10th straight win setting a new Komet record of consecutive wins by a goaltender in a UHL season. It was also the 4th straight home win for St. Pierre and his 7th straight start. Kotyluk notched a pair of goals for the Komets while Rodberg, Danny Stewart and David-Alexandre Beauregard added tallies.
Saturday the Komets finished the week with a 6-2 win over the visiting Missouri River Otters. All 6 Komet goals were scored by different players including Virag, Beauregard, Bobby Stewart, Dan Price, Colin Chaulk and Sean Venedam. Netminder Kelly Shields registered his 3rd win of the season stopping 21 of 23 Missouri shots.
This week the Komets are on the road for games in Richmond Tuesday, Port Huron Thursday and Muskegon Friday before returning home to host the Flint Generals for the first time this season Saturday night at 7:35pm.

Milestones: Defenseman Kelly Perrault skated his 200th career UHL game Friday night (1/30/04) against Elmira.....winger David-Alexandre Beauregard has registered 198 career UHL goals going into games this week.
Holding the lead....the Komets are 20-0-1 when leading after the first period and 24-0-2 when leading after 2 periods of play.
Topping the UHL: Komets lead the UHL with a .709 point percentage and 15 home wins.....Komets lead with a 26.8% power play rating at home (30/112)......Komet defense is stingiest allowing only 106 goals in 43 games for a 2.47 goals-against average per game.....defenseman Kevin Schmidt leads with +34.....Kevin St. Pierre leads UHL goalies with 1.98 average and .926 save percentage.....defenseman Steve Rodberg leads rookies with +14.....Kelly Perrault leads defensemen with 15 goals, 34 assists and 49 points (also with 6 ppg, 154 shots).

Komets post record January.....the Komets registered a new Fort Wayne UHL monthly best point percentage of .893 for January (12-1-1) topping their previous UHL monthly best of .846 set in February of 2001 (11-2-0). Kevin St. Pierre led all UHL goaltenders with an 11-1-0 record, 1.34 goals-against average, .951 save percentage and 4 shutouts in 12 appearances. Winger David-Alexandre Beauregard (14gp) registered a team-high 10 goals for the month while defenseman Kelly Perrault (14gp) topped the K's with 15 assists. Center Colin Chaulk led with 21 points while appearing in 12 games. The Komets were 11/55 on the power play (20.0%) and enjoyed a 90.0% success rate on the penalty kill (54/60).
Bus Trip to Muskegon Friday: There is still room on the Komet fan bus to Muskegon for this Friday night's game at L.C. Walker arena at 7:40. Fans interested in obtaining seats ($35 for adult, $30 for child) for this Friday night's bus trip have until noon this Wednesday to make their reservations.
