
Quad City's Williams and Fort Wayne's St. Pierre earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO---The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Quad City Mallards center Jeff Williams has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Fort Wayne Komets goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has been named UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 1, 2004.
Williams completed the 15th week of the season registering 7-points (5g, 2a) and a plus-two rating in three games. He opened the week scoring two goals and dishing out one assist in Wednesday's 6-2 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings. The 2004 UHL All-Star center tallied the week's lone hat trick and added an assist in Friday's 8-4 win over the Rockford IceHogs. Williams, a 27-year-old Pointe-Claire, Quebec native, has recorded 10 goals in the last six games and is tied for fifth in the UHL with 26 goals this season. His eight-game point-scoring streak and five-game goal-scoring streak were snapped in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Muskegon Fury.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack left wing Hugo Belanger, Elmira center Eddy Lowe, Flint right wing Bobby Reynolds, Fort Wayne right wing Dustin Virag, Kalamazoo center Pat O'Leary, Missouri right wing Jeff Petruic, Muskegon left wing Brant Blackned, Port Huron center Ben Genesse, Richmond right wing David Brosseau and Rockford forward Dan Davies.
St. Pierre completed the 15th week of the season posting a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA) and a .967 save percentage (SPCT) to earn his second consecutive UHL Goaltender of the Week Award and fourth weekly honor of the season. He successfully turned away 58 of 60 shots on goal, including his fifth shutout of the season in Friday's 5-0 victory over Elmira. The 28-year-old Sherbrooke, Quebec native continues to lead the league with a 1.98 GAA and a .926 SPCT. He was named November 2003 UHL Goaltender of the Month and earned UHL Goaltender of the Week honors for Week Five (November 17 - 23, 2003), Week 12 (January 5 - 11, 2004) and Week 14 (January 19 - 25, 2004).
