Komets Ice Gems in Exhibition 3-1; Seven Players Waived

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets closed the exhibition season with a 3-1 win over the visiting Dayton Gems Sunday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Right wing Bobby Chaumont collected a pair of points including the Komets' game winner. Defenseman Jamie Milam and P.C. Drouin also hit the net for the K's. Dayton's Brandon Naurato scored the lone Gems goal. The Komets complete the exhibition season with a split of two games against Dayton.

This week the Komets begin the final week of preparation for the 60th anniversary season starting with a 10:30 practice Monday morning at the Coliseum. The Komets' 2011-12 campaign opens with a home tilt against the Evansville IceMen Saturday night, Oct. 22, at 7:30pm.

Komets waive seven -- The Komets announced Sunday evening that seven players have been waived. Those released from the Komet camp were forwards Adam Krug, Fredric Korduner, Todd McIlrath, Jordy Trottier, Shane Heffernan and Eric Yngwe and defenseman Olivier Hotte.

The Komet roster shrinks to 22 players including 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

INC Soundoff with the Komets Monday nights -- The Komets, along with Indiana's News Center and title sponsor PHP, present a new weekly televised sports program airing on Monday nights at 7:30 on WPTA TV 21 Alive. The show is broadcast live from Wrigley Field Bar and Grill each week throughout the 2011-12 season with INC's Tommy Schoegler as host. Komet players and personnel will serve as co-hosts during the half-hour program. The show will also feature highlights, interviews, call-ins and special segments. This Monday night, Oct. 17, Komet goaltender Nick Boucher and defenseman Frankie DeAngelis will be special guests.
