Blaze Fall in Final Pre-Season Contest

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illni Credit Union, concluded the pre-season exhibition schedule with a 2-0 loss to the Evansville IceMen on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Evansville scored first with 6:40 remaining in the opening period when Nicklas Lindberg tallied, assisted by Malcolm Gwilliam. The IceMen sealed the game with a power play goal with 10:58 left in the third period when Matt Pierce deflected a drive, with assists from Lindberg and John Ronan.

Marco Emond went the distance in goal for the Blaze, stopping 29 of 31 shots. Bryan Gillis stopped all 47 Blaze shots to earn the shutout.

The Blaze conclude the pre-season 0-2, while Evansville won both exhibitions on the schedule. The Blaze open the regular season at home on Saturday, October 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Dayton Gems on "Economic Stimulus Night," with four tickets, four hot dogs, four chips and four drinks are available for only $25.

The new Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, will be playing in the 14-team Central Hockey League. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush, and Evansville IceMen.
