April 22, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Rapid City Rush News Release

(Fort Wayne, IN) - Riding the momentum from Wednesday's come-from-behind victory, the Fort Wayne Komets the opening four goals on Friday, en route to a 4-1 win. The triumph by the Komets forces a deciding game #5 set for this Sunday at 6:05pm at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Tickets are available by logging onto gotmine.com or calling (605) 716-7825.

Rapid City's struggles to stay out of the box continued in the early going, allowing the Fort Wayne powerplay three chances in the first period. The Komets took advantage of their third man-advantage when P.C. Drouin fired a one-timer from the top of the right circle, tucking the puck into the top shelf.

The Komets pulled away in the second period, netting a trio of goals to take a 4-0 lead. The first came at 6:15 when Mike Ratchuk's shot from the slot deflected off of a Rush skate and past Danny Battochio. Six minutes later, Michael Ratchuk's centering pass was tapped home by Colin Chaulk, giving the Komet captain his second point of the night. Finally, with four minutes left in the period, Mathieu Curadeau drove through the slot and buried a wrist shot to the top-right corner, giving the Komets a 4-0 lead. Curadeau's goal signaled the end of the night for Battochio who was replaced by Tim Boron.

Spoiling the shutout bid for Fort Wayne netminder Kevin Reiter was Rush grinder Kevin Harvey. A shot from defenseman Riley Weselowski at the left point was stopped, but the rebound was eventually poked in by Harvey for the powerplay marker.

Harvey's goal was too little, too late, as the Komets held on for the 4-1 win.

The deciding game of the series will be held on Sunday at 6:05pm at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Tickets are available by logging onto gotmine.com or calling 716-7825.
