
Komets end Mechanics week with a 7-3 loss

FORT WAYNE, IN-The Fort Wayne Komets explode for four goals in the second period and end the Mechanics long week by defeating them tonight by a score of 7-3 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The Komets took a 2-0 lead before Chris Gignac scored his first goal since going on the injured reserve back on January 8th, with Ryan Van Buskirk netting the assist. The first period ended with the Komets leading 2-1.
In the second period it was the Komets who exploded for four goals including two goals within 58 seconds. The Mechanics then outscored the Komets 2-1 from that point on but could not mount a five goal comeback and fell 7-3.
Gignac recorded his second goal of the night with under 10 minutes left in the game. Rod Branch made his 18th straight start in net and made 21 saves before being replaced by backup Bill Ruggiero in the second period. Ruggiero made 7 saves on only 9 shots.

The "Name that Line" contest is underway as many entries have already been submitted. Fans have until midnight on February 28th to submit their entries to name the Edinger, Szabo, Gretzky line. The winning name will be revealed on March 3rd during the first intermission.
