RiverDogs gain five of six points in weekend set
February 12, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Richmond RiverDogs News Release
GLEN FALLS, NY - The Richmond RiverDogs played extremely well tonight as the boys played their third game in three nights while traveling through a blizzard that rocketed through the Northeast. Just when things were bad enough, the Dogs lose Captain Dan Vandermeer early in the first period on a questionable checking from behind penalty, which resulted in his ejection. Despite all of that, the RiverDogs defense played well and held off the Frostbite to a 2-2 draw in regulation, only to lose the contest 3-2 in a shootout. Scoring for the RiverDogs, Mike Oliveira and Joey Bastien. The RiverDogs finish the first half of the six game road trip with an impressive five out of the maximum six points gained and solidifying eighth place in the UHL standings. The RiverDogs are now 23-21-5, 51 points, and is still one of the hottest teams in the UHL, going 10-1-2 in their last 13 games.
The RiverDogs will continue their six game road trip on Wednesday, February 15th as the team takes on their arch-rivals Roanoke Valley. The next RiverDogs home game is Friday, February 24th, at the Richmond Coliseum to face Danbury at 7:35 pm. It will also be the first of two Scout Nights with the RiverDogs. Scout leaders are encouraged to call the RiverDogs office at 804-225-7825 and book their pack or troop at special discounted rates.
